SNACKMASTERS
NEW THURSDAY / C4 / 8PM / EP 1 of 4 / COOKERY
Watching top chefs battling it out to make replicas of our favourite snacks proved a recipe for success when Fred Sirieix’s C4 show Snackmasters made its debut last year.
This week, the twinkly-eyed First Dates maître d’ returns with a new series, this time turning the spotlight on Quavers, Domino’s pizza, Snickers and Quality Street.
Here, Fred, 48, tells TV Times what to expect plus reveals why he’s tempted to take a twirl around the Strictly dance floor…
What do you think is the secret behind Snackmasters’ success?
It’s a competition crossed with Monty Python-style humour. The chefs are all so competitive – winning Snackmasters is like the defining moment of their career. This series we even have tears of joy from one chef – a big, macho-man chef, crying because he’s won.
Do you have a favourite snack from this series?
I like a Snickers. To be honest, I’d never actually had a Quality Street before now. It’s not something I grew up within France, so it’s just not in my DNA to buy them.
