REBEL

Available: Friday 28 May Season: 1 Episodes: 10

(released weekly) Run time: 43-44 mins NEW DRAMA

American legal clerk Erin Brockovich became a household name in 1993 when she waged a dogged campaign against a power company accused of contaminating a water supply – despite no formal training.

The single mum-of-three helped secure a settlement of $333 million for more than 600 residents of Hinkley, California, and her remarkable story was turned into an Oscar-winning 2000 film starring Julia Roberts.

Now Erin’s work has inspired Rebel, a brand-new legal drama for Star on Disney+. The 10-parter sees Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) play Annie ‘Rebel’ Bello, an indomitable legal advocate who battles tirelessly to confront big corporations who appear guilty of misconduct.

TV Times caught up with Katey, 67, for a video chat to find out more about the series...

What drew you to this drama?

It really jumped out at me. Being a woman of a certain age, there are fewer roles written for us, so I feel grateful this landed in my lap.
