When waitress Elizabeth and carpenter Jonas are set up on a blind date by mutual friends, they lay their cards on the table within minutes of meeting.
Elizabeth (played by The Salisbury Poisonings star MyAnna Buring) says she prefers being alone, while Jonas (Icelandic actor Gísli Örn Garðarsson) claims he’s decided to be honest about everything.
This awkward exchange lays the foundation for One Night, an intriguing 10-part romantic drama that launches on BritBox this week.
The series chronicles Elizabeth and Jonas’ date in real-time, from 8pm until 1am the next morning, as they get to know each other.
TV Times caught up with MyAnna, 42, to find out more...
What can you tell us about Elizabeth and Jonas?
They’re on a blind date and have no idea about each other.
When we meet Elizabeth, she’s an introverted, spiky person. She’s been hurt and is very suspicious about opening up to anyone.
But slowly over the night, she begins to unfurl with this unlikely, charismatic, jovial man. It turns out that he’s got exactly the right kind of manner that leads to a blossoming for her.
