The Sofitel closes one Italian, and replaces it with another
In Italian parmigiana means to cook or serve food with parmesan, and not surprisingly as a result, it’s a cheese that makes a few appearances on the menu at this new restaurant at the Sofitel, just off the Corniche. Parmigiana replaces B…Easy, another Italian outlet.
For the reworked Parmigiana, the hotel has ditched the fine-dining style decor for a more rustic, homely feel. Chequered black and white table clothes gives off a vibe of ‘mamma’s home cooking’ that so many Italian restaurants covet, and there’s plenty to look at in terms of decor, including a tonne of photos of celebrities such as Al Pacino and James Gandolfini (who famously played Tony Soprano in the hit HBO TV show The Sopranos).

Tashas - A New Cafe Concept Opens in Al Bateen
What do you get if you mix South African cuisine with Arabic and Mediterranean dishes, influences and décor? Tashas, a new high-end café in Al Bateen. Originally launched 12 years ago by South African Natasha Sideris, the Abu Dhabi branch is the first in the capital and will likely ruffle a few feathers among the city’s café scene, because Tashas is a cut above most we’ve visited in the capital.
