In the end, he got what he wanted – and for years the love story between Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet made even the hardest cynic believe in happy endings.
But now they’ve gone and shattered the fairytale.
Just as the new year got off to a start, the couple announced they’re separating after being together for 16 years.
“We’re parting ways in marriage,” they wrote in a joint post on Jason’s Instagram account. “We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy, but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
News of their separation seemed to come out of nowhere for fans of the Aquaman star and his wife, best known for her role in The Cosby Show.
But speculation about the reason for the four-year marriage ending soon started to swirl. Was it because of infidelity? Were they plagued by money problems?
Yet Jason (42) and Lisa (54) seemed at pains to dispel any rumors, saying the pandemic had taken a toll on their relationship.
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times. A revolution is unfolding, and our family is of no exception feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” their statement read.
Jason and Lisa, who have two children, Lola (14) and Nakoa-Wolf (13), remain committed to giving their kids all the support they need.
“Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our children. Teaching our children what’s possible.”
