Heartfelt words of advice from one abducted girl to another
MICHE SOLOMON
YOU'RE NOT ALONE

SHE was just 17 when she discovered her mom wasn’t the woman who’d given birth to her, and her world was turned upside down and inside out.

Miché Solomon turned out to be Zephany Nurse, the baby who was stolen from her mom at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town in 1997 and whose true identity was revealed after someone remarked how much another girl at her school looked like her.

That girl turned out to be her sister and DNA tests revealed Miché was the longlost child of Celeste and Morné Nurse.

Here Miché (24) writes a moving open letter to the girl who recently discovered she was kidnapped at birth (see page 10). “I want her to know that she is not alone in this.”

WHEN I heard about your story I couldn’t stop wondering if you’re okay. And if your circle is filled with the right people or if you’ve got a helping hand to get through this difficult time.

I know the fear and confusion I felt when I found out what my mother had done to me. I could feel your heartbreak. The betrayal. The hurt. The loneliness. The deadly horror and fear that paralyses you.

I thought about whether someone was listening to you. Not to question you – but to listen to you. I wondered if you’re really safe and what’s going through your mind.

The memories that came rushing back made me feel sick. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy – it’s a living nightmare with daily torment.
