A Starry Rendezvous!

It is that time of the year when fresh talent emerges from fashion institutes into the industry, and this year too, there were collections that were amazing in form and creativity.

L S RAHEJA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, MUMBAI

Alchemy 2017 had an interesting theme – the ‘Object of My Affection’ that gave the graduating students ample scope to push their creative limits. Walking away with the top award was Tadao’s ‘Little Geometry’ that gave asymmetry an interesting twist in muted shades of brown, white, and grey with Japanese design and geometry for unisex garments. Craft Couture had hot colours for creative patchwork dresses, tunics, jackets and trousers, winning the ‘Best Surface Ornamentation’ and ‘Daring to Dream’ awards. Decoding Physics had great accessories so the Best Accessory Award was cornered by it, while ‘SOS - Soul of Sufism’ walked away with the ‘Best Execution’ award. When it came to the ‘Ideation/ Experimentation’ award, Sikka was the apt winner with the clever use of coins for the Muslin embroidered gowns, dresses, hoodies, kurtas and skirts.
