SEX Q&A

Q All my friends do the pull-out method, and my boyfriend and I want to try it. I’m not taking any contraception right now. What are my chances of becoming pregnant?

A There’s a reason the pull-out method, where a guy withdraws before ejaculating inside you, is also called Pull and Pray: It has about an 18 percent failure rate. “It’s a very bad, bad method,” say ob-gyn Lauren Streicher, MD, author of Sex Rx. “For one thing, there’s sperm in the pre-ejaculate, and two, most guys just don’t pull out fast enough.” So aside from the risk of becoming pregnant (eek!), you also risk contracting an STI even if he doesn’t come inside you. The bottom line? If a baby’s definitely not in your life plan at the moment, the pull-out method shouldn’t be either.

Q My BF loves when we watch porn together, but it makes me sad. How do I get him to stop?
