And while a luscious red lip is a classic Valentine’s Day staple, this year, we’re taking a lesson in romance from the tanghulu pouts spotted on the SS’22 runways.
For those unfamiliar with the Chinese childhood snack, tanghulu comprises skewered fruits (usually grapes, strawberries, or more traditionally, hawberries) encased in a shiny, hardened sugar glaze. It’s a sweet treat that tastes as pretty as it looks — the crisp sugar coating gives way at first bite to spill soft, juicy chunks of fruit onto the tongue.
