Kimberley Walsh on her growing family, how marriage has changed her relationship and the ultimate Christmas gift.
With baby number two on the way, it’s set to be quite a Christmas for Kimberley Walsh – a fitting end to what has been an amazing year for the former Girls Aloud star. Back in January, after finishing an acclaimed run in Elf: The Musical, she flew to Barbados where she finally walked down the aisle with her beau of 13 years, Justin Scott. Looking on was son Bobby flanked by bridesmaids – and best mates – Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts. The pair are already doting ‘aunties’ to two-year-old Bobby and they can’t wait to welcome the new arrival. ‘I always get together with Cheryl and Nicola around Christmas so they’ll probably come over to me to see the new baby and have a catch up, which will be lovely,’ says Kimberley, cradling her burgeoning bump. But while her child-free friends will likely spend the season celebrating at glamorous festive parties, 34-year-old Kimberley will be happy at home with her brood...
Christmas will be full-on this year with baby number two arriving.
I’ll just let all the family come over and get on with things around me while I sit on the couch and watch it all happen. It’s going to be the only way for me to deal with it. My family all live in London now, which is handy, and with my sister Sally expecting as well, we’ll have to play it by ear a little bit. Christmas games in the evening usually get a little bit rowdy, but it won’t be quite so wild for me this year!
I’ll have to be very organised with my present-buying and get it all done nice and early. Christmas presents aren’t about us adults any more, but I’m excited for Bobby to have his first Christmas where he might actually understand what’s going on. Last year he didn’t have a clue, so it’ll be nice to see his reaction.
