On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, people think of many ideas to decorate the Ganesh idol but it can be decided upon only after the Lord has been placed properly in the house.
Since the festival celebrates the divine powers of the elephant god, many families place Ganesh idol in their house on this auspicious occasion. Keeping a decorated Ganesha in your house is different from placing an idol for worship. That is why, it’s vital to know exactly where you must place the idol in your home.
Many people place the idol in their living room or puja room. However, you must keep the right Vastu rules in mind and only then decide where to place the idol. These are the basic guidelines for placing the idol of Ganesha in your house. The trunk of Ganesha should always be twisted towards the left in context to Gowri (His Mother). Most people place Gowri and Ganesha together for Ganesh Chaturthi. So always ensure that your Ganesh idols trunk points left to Gowri Maa. The back of Ganesha should not be facing any of the rooms in your house. Ganesha is the god of prosperity, but His back indicated poverty.
It is best not to place the idol in the southern direction of your house. Try to place the idol in the east or the western directions of the house. Your puja room should also not be in the south of your house. If your idol is metallic, then you should place it in the north east or south west direction. The northeast corner of your house is the ideal place to install the idol. If the northeast side of your house complies to the above rules, then place the idol here.
Pooja Room Decoration
The northeast corner of the house is associated with bringing prosperity and happiness. Select the northeast corner of your house which is clean and calm. A day before the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival commences, clean the house and sprinkle ganga water especially in the place where the idol is to be placed to attain the sense of purity.
