Scarlet Snow Belo and her family are looking forward to a better future by doing better today

It is not easy to be a kid these days. In fact, sometimes it can be downright horrible. The pandemic, its resulting lock-downs and the physical, emotional and economic toll it has taken on humanity is largely unprecedented. Parents shudder at the thought of this collective trauma, as it shows how little control we actually have for the well-being of our children.

The only way out of it, it seems, is to embrace the tumult and the uncertainty. Surely this is how the Kho-Belo household is going about it.

“The pandemic actually has been wonderful for our parenting plan because we’ve been able to really closely watch Scarlet grow and develop,” says Dr. Hayden Kho, who, along with his wife Dr. Vicki Belo, and their daughter Scarlet Snow, need no introduction. These are brave words coming from the doctor, given the climate, but one can feel his sincerity.

“Since she’s been doing classes at home we sometimes sit in so we know how to continue her lessons later. We’ve also gotten closer because she couldn’t see kids in the beginning and so we became her playmates,” he offers.

We love injecting lessons through play— this is how we encourage her to love learning — Dr. Hayden Kho
