Coworking spaces have mushroomed all over Singapore and Malaysia – hot desks, dedicated desks or working remotely are more common as businesses do away with traditional office spaces and cubicles. Productivity is no longer measured or achieved in a designated office space as employees work flexi-hours and upload completed work to cloud servers. The strict lines which once demarcated organizational structures are slowly blurring as more businesses see the mutual benefits of coworking spaces – shared workspaces encourage interactions, which in turn leverage on each other’s strengths by rewarding collaborations. Coworking spaces are a result of an evolved working culture that people are becoming more receptive to.
This begets the question – will organizational restructures work well for an ever-efficient working environment? Organisational structures provide an expected idea of how to interact and produce optimal work in a business setting – it can be said to be a formulaic method of achieving maximum efficiency. Therefore, there is a desire for many global companies to break this barrier and achieve 110 per cent with coworking spaces.
