Men’s grooming routines are not restricted to dermatological brands or labels that read “for him”, but does he know that?
“Androgyny” has become the buzzword for fashion in recent seasons and it helped spark renewed interest in menswear. The idea of men and women sharing the same wardrobe has somewhat become an accepted norm. However, any propositions for men and women sharing the vanity desk are promptly rejected. Sharing skincare or using perceptively feminine products compromise masculinity because it hints that men care too much about their looks, a trait among the fairer sex. But what is so wrong about putting your best face forward?
Get with the times, the Korean ideal of the 10-step skincare routine is an open secret among K-pop idols with their glowing porcelain skin. At Men’s Folio, we are not the biggest supporters of this movement (because it is just too much work) but there is definitely merit in the extensive skincare regime. Other than the sheer amount of work, many men seem to have overlooked the fact that the routine is not partial to skincare that might not necessarily bear the words “for men”.
