JOEY IS KING

Most fans would recognise Joey King as Elle Evans in Netflix’s rom-com hit The Kissing Booth. But that wasn't Joey's first debut onto the big screen. In fact, this rising star has been working non-stop since her very first television role as a guest on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody in her toddler days, before progressing to take on the role of Ramona alongside Selena Gomez in Ramona and Beezus. Since then, Joey has soared up the Hollywood ladder, taking on roles in various ranges, and proving that she can confidently take on characters in any genre.

From her role as the younger version of Marion Cotillard's character, Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises and Deputy Grimly’s daughter Greta on season 1 of FX’s critically beloved series Fargo, to a role in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and White House Down alongside Channing Tatum, she makes every character she plays more dynamic, and relatable. Case in point—her transformative role as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu’s The Act, a crime anthology based on the real-life story of Gypsy, a young woman who allegedly conspired with her boyfriend to kill her mother. The real-life Gypsy is currently serving a prison sentence for the crime. Her mother, Dee Dee (played by Patricia Arquette), suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health condition in which a caretaker makes up or causes illness for someone in their care. Dee Dee was making her daughter sick for years to win sympathy and attention. For the part of Gypsy, Joey had to get her whole head shaved—and totally rocked it, by the way— and wore fake teeth.
