Rear And Lips

Alex Gadinez

For as long as she can remember, Alex Godinez’s life has been about music. “I grew up around musicians all my life. My whole family, from my mom’s side and my dad’s side, surrounded us with music. So it was almost inevitable [for me to] get into it,” she shares.

On the power of music. “I love to make music because sounds can heal. And I want to be part of that.”

On being her biggest critic. “Making music for me was an outlet to express my emotions, and also, emotions that people can relate to. It’s just so powerful that way.”

On making people feel good. “When they listen to my music, I want them to leave feeling like, ‘Hah! Now I can own my day.’”

On connecting with her audience. “There are so many moments in my life when I felt alone. That even with so many people around me, I still felt alone. I always thought that it’s about being able to link up and relate to other people, and see that everyone is going through the same thing.”

On being empowered. “I feel most empowered when I’m creating, and sharing that creation with others is everything.”

On living boldly. “To live boldly is to be unafraid to make those connections with people. Like, be the first one to smile [when you meet someone].”
