Meet Prashant Sawant, a celebrity fitness trainer, who has been sculpting bodies since 1998. His brainchild ‘Body Sculptor’, established in 2003 in Mumbai is a personal fitness training studio that has been training names like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and more. According to Prashant, it’s been a journey full of exploration and understanding the mechanism of the body and crafting personalized plans for his clients. For Prashant, the pros of being a celebrity fitness trainer are that they (celebrities) know what they are doing, why they are training, and why workout is important. While he feels that there are no cons of being a celebrity fitness trainer, he surely affirms that there are myths that people believe and one of them is, results can be obtained quickly, and one kind of diet suits everyone to lose weight faster. In a detailed conversation with TMM, Prashant clears it all and shares a slice of his success journey in the world of fitness.

How did fitness as a career happen to you?

As a child, I was a fat kid and throughout my entire childhood I wanted to do something with my body and look good, hence I stepped towards fitness as my career option. My father wanted me to join Merchant Navy and to be there, you needed to be stronger and physically fit. So at a very young age, I started working out and going gym and slowly I started getting attracted to weight training and the way my body was changing and shaping. So my friend started his career in this line and started sharing his experience in this field and I used to be fascinated with the stories and not many had ventured into it. This career came to me at the age of 17, when I was helping my friend and he suggested going and giving an interview at a gym which worked out very well for me. People started liking the training I was providing and there was no looking back.

It’s been more than 23 years for you in the fitness industry. How do you see the change in awareness about fitness and health in the Indian market?
