Actor Aditi Rao Hydari doesn’t really need a date-night strategy. A dash of cheek tint, rosy lips, tousled hair, and she’s good to go. “It all depends on my mood for the evening—I’d like to think of my signature style as effortless, versatile and often whimsical,” she says. She lets Vogue in on her beauty secrets, which include good genes, healthy food habits and early skincare.

The most important thing is… Skincare. Much more important than make-up, and going au naturel most of the time has definitely worked for me. The wind blowing on my face makes me feel beautiful. I think happy girls are definitely the prettiest.

Believe it or not… I use cold water on my face and body even if the weather is chilly. I prefer washing my face with a soap-free face wash or chickpea powder with milk on days my skin feels dry and nourishing yoghurt on days it’s oily. I swear by coconut oil and aloe vera for dryness as well as rashes. I prefer lightweight, water-based moisturisers. I apply Spawake sunscreen only if I’m out shooting or spending the day in the sun.
