MONISHA JAISING and SHWETA BACHCHAN NANDA’s newest venture is a story of sartorial serendipity. Vogue met the dream team on the sets of their first campaign shoot to find out more.
On a rainy evening in July, I meet Monisha Jaising, Vogue’s contributing editor Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda. Mother and daughter are posing for Rohan Shreshta’s lens as Jaising directs the campaign for their latest project. The air is thick with excitement, as it usually is at the start of something new. The big news is that friends Jaising and Shweta have collaborated on MXS, an inclusive label that has Navya Naveli as the face. This coming together of a veteran designer and the columnist and author was the result of a chance encounter—Jaising worked on a custom look with Shweta for her friend’s birthday that turned out to be something of a hit. Therein sparked a conversation around joining forces, and MXS was born, a label that aims to transcend boundaries of age, shape and, most importantly, create aspirational fashion at accessible price points.
