Musto made its name by developing the first three-layer clothing system for mariners. The company, which was founded by Keith Musto, an Olympic sailor, subsequently diversified into equestrian and shooting clothing, winning awards and royal warrants along the way. It is generally said to be one of the leaders in sporting clothing. As such, my expectations for its latest range of shooting clothing was high.
The Keepers softshell jacket is a mid-layer. It is designed to be worn over your base layer and under the outer shell to give you extra warmth and protection from the elements. Mid-layers can be made from fleece, merino wool or softshell, which is polyester woven to give an element of stretch.
FreedomMade from softshell material, the Keepers jacket gives great freedom of movement and is also lightweight, meaning you don’t feel like Michelin Man — or Woman — when layered up.
