Launched at EBACE 2013 in May 2013 and with first deliveries the following year, the Bombardier Challenger 350 was designed with different engines, new winglets, a different interior and new avionics compared to the Challenger 300.
As the super-midsize market changed and competition became tougher with the launch of more capable aircraft such as the Gulf stream G280, Embraer Legacy 500, Cessna Citation Longtitude due for delivery in 2017 and Textron Aviation’s updated Citation Sovereign+ and Citation X, Bombardier decided to focus on specific improvements rather than design a clean sheet new aircraft.
Every aspect of the cabin has been carefully designed for an unrivaled private jet experience with flat floor, large windows, angled touch screens, fold out tables house within the ergonomic side ledge and easy access to the baggage compartment at all times.
Structure and Systems
One of the most obvious modifications to the aircraft is the pair of canted winglets that not only have a less acute angle that reduces transonic drag, but they also increase span by 5.2 ft., increasing aspect ratio and overall wing area. This enables the Challenger 350 to climb higher and cruise more efficiently in spite of its greater weight. It has a 3 200 nm (5,926 km) range capability with full tanks and maximum number of passengers.
The 350 features the industry’s best weather radar, the intuitive and fully-automatic Multi Scan™ technology provides weather avoidance information, reducing pilot workload. It is powered by Honeywell HTF7350 engines with increased thrust, lower emissions and improved fuel efficiency, providing excellent hot and high capability, as well as impressive climbing performance. The engine -- a derivative of the HTF7000, which has proven its reliability by powering the Challenger 300 aircraft since its launch in 2003 delivers a greater than 7 percent thrust increase and features Honeywell's latest systems designed to lower fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
