Inspired by the full-size Thomas Morse S4B in the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome’s collection, Martin’s “Tommy” is an amazing example of RC scale modeling that is exactly detailed both inside and out. The workmanship Martin shows in all his scale airplanes has to be seen up close to be appreciated, and at the 2019 Old Rhinebeck WW I RC Jamboree, Martin’s as yet unfinished Tommy earned him the coveted Spirit of Rhinebeck award. Had the event not been canceled this year, we’re sure the Tommy would have also earned the Best in Show award.
Using 1/5-scale Replicraft plans as reference as well as DataFiles from Windsock Publications, Martin worked out his 1/3-scale plans for the project. Following the details as closely as possible, Martin’s model looks exactly like the full-size aircraft.
