TAKEOFF WITH A 1 1/2 POSITIVE SNAP ROLL
Model Airplane News|July 2021
If you’re aspiring to become a better aerobatic pilot, you are, no doubt, constantly searching to add exciting maneuvers to your flight routine.
JOHN SLEZELLIS
TAKEOFF WITH A 1 1/2 POSITIVE SNAP ROLL

1 Just before the snap roll, switch to your medium rates and cut back on power.

2 To start the snap roll, pull back on the elevator slightly and apply full left aileron and left rudder.

3 As the model nears the 1 1/2 rotation point, neutralize rudder and aileron inputs. Timing is everything!

4 Exit the maneuver inverted and apply down-elevator as needed to maintain altitude.

The best aerobatic pilots are skilled at combining certain elements from one maneuver with elements from another. Let’s talk this time about combining a snap roll with your takeoff, to draw attention to your flight right from the start. Before we get into the details about this eye-catching aerobatic move, let’s take a look at your aircraft and how it is set up regarding dual rates and exponential values. So, let’s get down to business.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RC PLANE STANDS BENCHTOP MODEL

I’m a sucker for shop stuff. I buy tools I will probably never use just because they are cool, or I might need to use them someday. When Glen from RC Plane Stands reached out about a review, however, I knew as soon as I browsed their website that I would be receiving something I would use a lot, maybe even daily.
