DR WADE MERCHANT provides tips for both doctor and patient on how to achieve a perfect, natural looking pout with lip fillers.
A great lip filler treatment is one where the result is so natural, even close friends would never suspect that your lips have had some aesthetic help. Bad lip filler results on the other hand, are the ones which most people talk about – as they tend to have a fish or duck lip appearance. And at the other end of this spectrum, we have social media and celebrity culture that has created and influenced a world where the natural look is no longer the norm. However, what most of my Cape Town patients are after is a natural looking result.
The lip filler challenge
When consulting my first time lip filler patients, I explain that one should always consider their age, degree of facial ageing, their overall appearance, expectations and budget. Since every single lip filler treatment is unique, it is both a challenge and a rewarding labour of love. In all lip filler treatments, there are a few rules that doctors should always adhere to:
Every patient has a unique lip shape; maintain that shape.
Every patient has a unique lip border, maintain that border.
