Learn about cardiovascular issues women are more prone to face

Matters Of The Heart
According to data from the Singapore Ministry of Health, cardiovascular disease is a major killer here, accounting for nearly one out of three deaths in 2015. Among women in Singapore, the leading cause of death is heart disease and stroke combined, but many are still unaware of the dangers posed by this “silent killer”.

Common causes of heart disease are hypertension, coronary artery disease (CAD) and atrial fibrillation (abnormal heart rhythm). These conditions, if undiagnosed or not well controlled, can lead to heart attacks, sudden cardiac death, heart or kidney failure, stroke and dementia.
