Stepping onto the scales at my first Weight Watchers meeting, I heard a familiar negative voice in my head, ‘You’re too weak to stick to a diet,’ it said. I’d had anxiety and depression since childhood, so it was no surprise I felt that way. After breaking my ankle at age 10, I gained weight and, due to having a big appetite, it wasn’t long before kids started calling me ‘Big Penny’.
