Loose Women anchor Andrea McLean tells Chloe Andrews why she couldn’t be happier with her ‘normal’ body
She’s been a regular face hosting Loose Women for many years, but lately Andrea McLean has taken on a number of new projects. The 48-year-old has just released her new book Confessions of a Menopausal Woman and launched website thisgirlisonfire.co.uk while juggling life as a busy mum to her two children, Finlay, 16, and Amy, 11, and stepmum to her husband Nick Feeney’s daughters Tia Lily and Sienna. So it’s unsurprising that when we meet Andrea – who has bought along Nick and her sister Linda to help her out – she says she’s ‘knackered’, as she chats through our interview and organises the final details for her book launch party and all while enjoying her breakfast of toast, peanut butter, banana and honey. Phew!
‘Yoga keeps me bendy!’
Despite her packed schedule, the presenter will always find time for fitness – especially yoga. ‘I do yoga at least three times a week,’ Andrea explains. ‘Because I kind of need to, I get clunky if I don’t do it.
‘I’ve done yoga since my 20s. People think that I must be really bendy, but it’s the other way round,’ she tells us. ‘I do yoga because I’m really inflexible – if I didn’t do it I would be like the Tin Man without oil. But I love it, it’s a time where your body and mind work together, because so much of it is to do with your breath, and core strength and holding poses, and I find it very relaxing.’
Andrea’s love for yoga has clearly rubbed off on the family as Nick – who she married in 2017 – adds that his wife’s introduction to the exercise has been ‘a game-changer’ for him too.
‘I’ve found the right level of fitness’
