Pressure is the difference between coal and diamonds, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to handle. I read somewhere that keeping your head while everyone else is losing theirs is a sure-fire way to success, and it’s something I believe to be absolutely true – I’ve seen this in practice time and time again.
I’ve worked with many athletes across a variety of sporting codes and have often experienced well-trained, motivated and prepared athletes make monumental errors after having rehearsed for thousands of hours. When I asked what happened, the response was usually along the lines of: “The pressure just got to me.”
