The celebration of beer and fun ended up with our family & friends this New Year in Penang.
And now it’s time to get our self ready for one of the lively experience of cultural celebration Thaipoosam one among its kind. Looking forward to have another year of new experience.
You might have experienced the Traffic-choked roads, frenetic food markets and labyrinthine shopping malls – Kuala Lumpur can be a little bit crazy all year round. But you haven’t experienced the city in all its colourful, crowded, celebratory glory until you’ve experienced Thaipoosam. One of the biggest sacred Hindu Festival celebration which will be in full swing all over the land of KL!. Thaipusam is a festival celebrated to honour the occasion where Goddess Parvati bestows Lord Murugan with a Vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. Thaipoosam takes place on the full moon in the month of Thai, which falls in January or February each year. Held in honour of Lord Murugan.
Year back with the camera in our hands to shoot the real experience of the festival of colour we made plans to meet in Kuala Lumpur with our family and friends where the largest congregation of people will converge for a three-day festival at the Batu Caves. According to the local papers, 1.7 million people will be attending the Thaipusam pilgrimage and we are in the heart of the action. Travelled 4hr 30min in local train well in advance and reached ChinaTown. We reached from the start of the procession where worshippers pay tribute to Lord Muruga. The starting point for the procession is Sri Mahamariamman Temple, and it’s worth heading here the day before to see what’s going on.
