You’ve probably heard of omegas and essential fatty acids, but you might not know that omega-3 and omega-6 do different things in the body and are found in different foods. Our diets have changed significantly in favour of omega-6, which could be causing major health issues and getting the two in balance could be the secret to a healthier, happier you. That could mean better sleep and skin, improved mental health, less bloating, less inflammation and a healthy heart.
How do we get our omegas in check?
The right kinds of fats are essential to health. Nutritionist Lucy Sparkes explains that one of the most vital groups is omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids. The human body can produce most of the fatty acids it needs, except for an omega-6 fatty acid called linoleic acid (LA) and anomega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Omega-3 particularly has a huge range of health benefits.
