It’s common to start our year with the best of intentions, promising to prioritise ourselves, give up the over-indulging, stress, social media activity or negative self-talk — all of the things we know don’t serve our health. But somehow, after a brief burst of motivation, it fizzles out. Let’s look at how you could spend the next few months improving what you eat and how you digest it. Remember sustained, long-term change comes from understanding what we believe about ourselves and the level of care we feel we are worthy of.

Shine a light on your nourishment
Good health begins and ends with nourishment. There is nothing on this planet that can replace a nourishing way of eating — no amount of exercise will counteract poor food choices. We cannot fight our biological requirement for nutrients.
I regularly hear ‘I don’t eat that badly’ or ‘I eat pretty well’, but just four percent of Australians eat the recommended amount of vegetables each day, with the average person eating only half as much as they should. This says that, regardless of whether we believe we ‘eat well’ or not, the vast majority of people are still not getting the minimum nourishment required to ensure their biochemistry is not missing out on vital nutrients.
