Renowned Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Sudhakar E Lawand, who specializes in trauma, arthritis, arthroplasties and paediatric ortho surgeries, and is practicing in Satara, Maharashtra, since the last 30 years, is a doctor who has his heart in the right place. Besides being passionate about his profession, he is also on a mission to make the world a better place for people to live in. He has a charitable trust named after his son Dr Soham Lawand through which he routinely organizes free health checkups and even provides free treatment to the needy.

Here, he enlightens us about the common bone and joint ailments faced by people of different age groups and how they can be prevented.

Firstly, tell us something about your hospital...

I have my own hospital (Omkar Lawand Ortho Hospital) in Satara with a setup of 20 beds and a highly equipped operation theatre. I am also a partner at the 80-bedded Sanjeevan Multispecialty Hospital in Satara, which is equipped with cathlab, scan, MRI and excellent quality OT setup with CVTS and neuro trauma facilities.

What are the common bone problems faced by different age groups of people?

Toddlers and kids: Fractures of long bone, supracondylar fracture and accidental fall/ trauma.
