We talk to the down-to-earth USN ambassador, professional athlete and prospective gym owner Tom Coleman about the life of a fitness buff, and what keeps him going.
We have seen them in magazines, billboards and on posters in the supplements aisle of your favourite pharmacy. Professional athletes have taken the world by storm, achieving the type of body that we could only dream of - and being rewarded for it. This is not an easy process and it can be difficult to balance day to day life with training and competing. But, with a lot of hard work and perseverance, these professional athletes are able to achieve their goals and accomplish things that we can only dream of. We talk to one of these athletes- the down to earth USN ambassador, professional athlete and prospective gym owner, Tom Coleman. He speaks to us about what made him decide to take part in bodybuilding competitions, what it felt like finally receiving his Pro Card only to return it and continue competing as an amateur, balancing training with travelling, and, of course, how he stays focused and motivated while training.
TOM,AT THE RISK OF ASKING THE SAME QUESTION THAT THOUSANDS HAVE BEFORE, WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO THIS CUT-THROAT INDUSTRY?
From a young age, I’d always been very active - playing sports and long distance running. My father decided to channel my energy towards rugby where I found a love for the game and played late into my teens. Unfortunately, due to injury, I had to give up the game I loved. I was still very hungry to be active (after my injury) and decided to join a local gym. Within days I was hooked. The local bodybuilders became like family ,and I was in love and fascinated by the sport. 14 years later and I still have the drive and determination to be better than I can be. I love competing and pushing myself to the limit.
