FITNESS INSPIRED! Melisa Gun

Such an honour to have you on Muscle & Fitness Hers, everyone has a special story about how they got involved in health and fitness. Could you tell us a little bit about your journey to where you are today? I’ve been into sports and workouts since I was a little girl. I used to be into obstacle racing when I was younger. Even when I don’t do anything professionally, I try at least to do cardio training. I simply cannot imagine my life without sport, I think it helps me stay more disciplined. Now I’m also into martial arts such as hand-to-hand fighting or jiujitsu. Life is all about movement and the more I work out, the happier I feel. In my opinion, even if you don't do any sports professionally, it's a good idea to do something, that's why I try to stay active.

What is your typical workout routine? My rule number one is: say yes to variety because that way you will never be bored of working out. It doesn't matter how many times a week I exercise, I try to keep it interesting and varied. One day it's an upper-body workout, the next it could be lower-body or HIIT, or some cardio. I work with my trainer and together we discuss the most optimal program for me depending on the results that I need to achieve. It's also crucial to give yourself some rest, so it's a good idea to go out or spend a day at a spa. Whatever I do, I make sure I get the best results out of my workout, and it gives me great pleasure to see the changes in my body, that's my biggest motivation, I suppose.
