A for Advice

“You are an AAA rated person with A in caps,” I was told. In the world of finance, where companies are given credit ratings, AAA is one of the best credit ratings one can have. Add a plus to enhance it even further. So, companies with AAA+ are even more valuable and worth investing.

I grinned at being rated so high. But the smile lasted only for a short while as I was told the full form of it. This is what I did: Assumed, Advised and Amplified everyone’s problems. My bubble of happiness immediately burst and I hung my face. Was I such a bad person to communicate with?

There were some nuggets of wisdom thrown at me: ‘I cannot solve every problem, sometimes the only solution I can offer is a listening ear. By giving unsolicited advice, especially when I do not know the entire situation, I am disrespecting the other’s wisdom.’
