Prescription For The Over Thinking Mind

I remember a brief conversation I had with Hansaji a couple of years back.

Prescription For The Over Thinking Mind

She was suggesting to me to do some things, to which I replied, “I am thinking, I am not sure”. She replied, “Tum Padhe Likhe Log Sochte Bahut Ho (you intellectuals think a lot)”. At that time I brushed off that statement, thinking (yes again thinking) that one has to think before making a decision, isn’t it?

Saying that I think, would be an understatement. Before making any crucial decision of my life, be it relocating for a job, studying a course or any other personal decision, I think a lot. At times I even try to plan or foresee how will it go, for e.g. if I have to relocate, I would think where I would stay, with whom I would stay, how will I cook, where will I get Indian grocery from, when I would relocate back to India, etc. I go into a lot of details. I remember before relocating to Hong Kong, I would have spoken to umpteen number of people trying to decide if I should accept the job offer. By talking to them, I wanted to decide if it would be the right decision for me, would it make me happy, would it involve the least number of challenges and many such parameters.
