The Fibre Co.’s beautiful, heathered blend of fine merino wool, baby alpaca and silk noil is beloved by knitwear designers and knitters
HELEN SPEDDING
The Acadia Story

THE FIBRE CO. is beloved for its beautiful, artisan yarns in nature-inspired colours, and every single yarn in its range is a delight to knit with, and has something unique to offer. With Acadia, which was used by Mary Henderson to create her ‘Lowenna’ jumper in this supplement, those special qualities include a stunning softness and drape.

“Garments knitted with Acadia have a soft drape, which gives you a cosy, comfortable garment that will become a good friend!” Mary says. “Acadia has a lovely handle with just the right texture for Fair Isle knitting: great ease in stranding, with the soft shading of the colours. Each shade complements every other colour in the range, which means it’s easy to put together alternative colourways for a project: gradient colour patterns, or contrasting colourways with traditional motifs. The palette is great for striping, too, enabling you to develop subtle, gradient colours or bold bands with thin contrasting neutrals. There’s plenty of opportunity to play with colour and experiment with different stitch patterns when you’re working with Acadia.”
