Luxury fashion brands want to move in with you—at your expense
Hermes has the Birkin. Tiffany & Co. has the signature blue box. Gucci has the iconic red and green stripe.
These three brands have one thing in common, and it’s not the fact that they’re giants in the fashion and luxury industry. These are high fashion brands that have made their way into the home sector either recently or are making it more pronounced. High fashion brands are making their way from the runway into your hallway, or your kitchen, or your bedroom. If carrying an orange Birkin was the standard of being luxe, now it is defined by having a Hermes throw blanket over your couch.
With fast fashion lines, it’s also a consistent transition. We see Zara Home, H&M Home, Forever 21 Home having their own home sections in clothing rack filled stores. Big brands aside, fashion designers have also made home accessories an extension of their lines. Jean-Paul Gaultier, fashion designer and former creative director of Hermes, went from selling his own perfume to luxury wallpapers.
