Since 2011, the Vaughan family, Megan, Mitch, their son, Maximilian, and their daughter, Marigold, have lived in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Forest, Virginia. What initially started as a form of “therapy” for Megan, blossomed, literally, into an entire new season of life for the family.
We talked with Megan to learn more about how this vision of beauty came into being.
CB: Please tell us how the greenhouse came about. Have you always had a green thumb?
Megan: No! I used to joke that I had a black thumb … Succulents died the second I looked at them, so there was no way I could keep anything leafy and green alive. For years, we had a plantless home, and we were just fine with that.
“Tucked within the trees, it's a truly magical place that brings joy, reflection and healing .”
CB: What changed?
Megan: We had a miscarriage.
