Although this couple always planned to build, Helen is the first to admit that she needed help when it came to considering the interior finishes. ‘I don’t know a lot about interiors and I was worried that the house could look empty. We wanted a contemporary style for the decor but also wanted it to feel cosy. This is our forever home; it had to be perfect, so I knew we’d need a great interior designer on board, who would create a scheme to really suit the style and scale of the house. I did some research and loved Lee Austin’s work, so met up with him at the very early planning stages. Other than wanting a contemporary yet cosy look, we gave Lee a free reign and asked him to design what he thought would best suit the house. Over and above designing the interior schemes throughout, he also took the plans into careful consideration, making some improvements, such as the redesign of the staircase from a linear design to a sweeping curve to create a welcoming entrance. It was Lee who brought us to Robinson Interiors, and we knew straight away that we had came to the right place.’
The cabinetry is such high quality; you can tell from the look and the feel of the finish that it’s a different standard. And it’s more than that, it’s the detail in the design, how it’s put together and how they blend all the elements to create such a striking scheme.’
