The owners of this three-storey Georgian over-basement property have knocked two rooms into one and added a wall of glass to create their dream layout
Having lived in this beautiful period semi for six years before embarking on any renovation work, the couple have knocked the connecting wall between their kitchen and living room to create a light-filled, flowing layout. ‘The kitchen area is the renovation work we’ve done. As well as knocking the two rooms into one, we knocked out the back wall to bring in light.’ As fate would have it, it was during the building work that the couple’s favourite feature of the room was unexpectedly unveiled. ‘The beautiful old chimney breast appeared like a gift midway through the build. To think, for years this beauty lay hidden beneath sheets of plasterboard!’ The couple had it painstakingly restored and so this characterful focal point steered their bespoke kitchen design and layout.
