Design and plant with confidence to give a modest garden impact and an identity of its own

Make Small Beautiful

Who am I to start giving out advice on small gardens? After all, the garden here at Glebe Cottage is larger than most. Within its boundaries, though, are several smaller gardens. In my work, too, I come across lots of small plots.

Last week at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show we were lucky enough to take a close look at several of the ‘Back to Back’ gardens. They were packed with truly exciting ideas.

Just because your garden may be small, that’s no reason to be diffident about it. Design and plant it with confidence, and your boldness will give it impact and an identity of its own. Give it a style you sustain throughout the garden and don’t try to cram in a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
