They nest in colonies, and colonies have been busy during spring and early summer turning out a new generation.A breeding female will produce two or three clutches of eggs each season and then, with her mate, will work to raise her offspring.By now, the child-rearing should be over and done with and the youngsters will be fending for themselves. Many of those newly independent young birds will get together to form flocks and then go off on their travels.In time though, most will return to their home patch, arriving back in autumn. Come winter, they&rsquo;ll be busy at garden bird feeders.
