Gary&rsquo;s prot&eacute;g&eacute;, under gardener Sam Purvis, must have thought his luck was in when his beefy clump of stems clinched the title, but the fledgling grower tasted world success for just five minutes before his record was dramatically snatched away by his boss.Giant veg veteran Ian Neale added to his tally of world records by bagging further accolades; the world&rsquo;s heaviest aubergine at 3.06kg (6.75lb), and the world&rsquo;s heaviest bell pepper at 7.02kg (15.48lb). This is the third time Paul, from Stanley, has broken the record.Tim Saint was ecstatic after setting a record for his 23.7kg (52.23lb) red cabbage.
