The showstopping elements of this home are the folding walls of the façade. The uninterrupted rugged stonemasonry rising from the ground stands tall along the roadside elevation. Different colours, different sizes, variety of textures come together to craft an immersive experience from the get-go.
THE DESIGN STRATEGY HINGED ON THE PLAY OF VOLUMES AND PERFECTING THE INSIDE-OUTSIDE RELATIONSHIP. PROGRESSIVELY, LAYERS OF COMPLEXITIES IN THE FORM OF MATERIALS, LIGHT, TEXTURES, COLOURS, INTERIOR ELEMENTS, AND FURNITURE WERE INTRODUCED WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE DESIGN.
Sahiba Sodhi, Co-Founder, SMK Architects
This project is very special for one of the architects. Sahiba, along with Khushbu and Manmayee, has designed this home for her parents, Devender Sodhi and R S Sodhi. She planned it as a forever home for when they plan their retirement. Sahiba, her sister and their respective families visit here often...and that explains the three bedrooms in this expansive home.
To break the linearity of the plan of this home, the architects have carved out open spaces within the built volume that go on to blur the boundaries between inside and outside. As a consequence, the landscape and its views become a part of the interior space and experience.
