Overlooking the urban sprawl of the city of Kolkata from a majestic vantage point, this residence has a spacious, contemporary design.
Put together by Abin Chaudhuri, it has multiple elements of luxury, like the spacious planning and the abundance of light which has been used to its advantage. In addition, the familiarity of materials, antique accents and strategically placed artworks add warmth and comfort to the home.
The design team had two starting points. One was the client’s brief to create a modern, contemporary home that is elegant and fuss-free. The other was beige-coloured marble flooring provided by the builder. This was smartly incorporated into the design strategy of the home with some civil changes and interiors solutions. An open floor plan gave them the flexibility to play with the spaces and their aesthetic, while adhering to the client’s requirement.
“For design inputs, the client completely relied on us. They appreciated our purpose to have an open floor plan and trusted our intentions for the design. This gave us confidence as we moved forward,” reveals Chaudhuri.
