Wing Commander Komal Pardeshi and his wife Meena Komal Pardeshi create a home that encapsulates their years of living in different cities across the country.
In 1994, after almost thirty years of serving in the Indian Air Force, Wing Commander Komal Pardeshi and his wife Meena Komal Pardeshi settled in Tridal Nagar, a residential society of defence personnel, in Pune. They had spent three decades shifting homes in different cities – Agra, Guwahati, Srinagar, Barrackpore and Pune – located in different parts of the country. Their love for locally crafted objects led them to collect a variety of furniture and artefacts. When they finally settled in Pune, they looked forward to doing up their home and displaying their collections. And with support and inspiration from their sons and daughters-in-law they created a homely abode full of memories.
Growing up as a police officer’s daughter, Meena had seen her mother set up home each time the family moved and take a keen interest in gardening as well. She picked up skills watching her mother organize and decorate the home, and look after the garden. This held her in good stead as an Air Force officer’s wife as she efficiently set up home and nurtured plants each time they moved home on account of a transfer. Her garden received the first prize for best garden in the city for four consecutive years when they were posted in Agra.
