Ar Manish Dikshit, Founding Principal of Mumbai-based AUM Architects, has created BC Webwise, a workspace where the interiors of each zone typify the genre.
A Passionate Professional
I call myself an architect by passion and traveller by profession. Exploring new places inspires my work. Growing up in Matunga, Bombay (now Mumbai), a suburb deeply infused in a juxtaposition of Irani cafes and Udipis nestled amidst old houses of various design eras, implanted my infatuation towards the built form. The other major, closer at home influence is my architect father Ranganathan. He was the magnetic force behind my inclination towards design and art,’ says Ar Manish Dikshit, Founding Principal of AUM Architects.
Dikshit transitioned into practice while still a student. ‘A relative asked me to design his 2BHK apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The trust instilled in me at that stage when I was just 23, gave me the confidence to start my own practice very early. On completion of my architectural education, I learnt from the masters – Ar Hafeez Contractor and Ar Nozer Wadia – for almost six years’, says Dikshit.
‘Besides them, along my professional journey, there has been Ar Ravi Sarangan from Edifice. He helped me understand the key factor of hiring and retaining talent. The second influence, not just professionally but also on the personal front is Ratan Tata. I respect and admire his grounded personality, his commitment and persistence, efficient drive towards everything he does – and above all his dedication towards social causes’, avers the 39-year old architect.
Founded in 2004, AUM Architects’ mission has been to impart excellence, service efficiency, responsiveness with a strong commitment towards every project regardless of its scale. Fuelled by unbound creativity and cutting-edge technology, the architectural, civil and interior design services are spearheaded to exceed the expectations of all clients needing an innovative, reliable, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
