Essentially modern, yet comfortable and inviting.” That was the brief from the owners when they tasked Claire Clarke of By Design Interiors with this extensive interior project. The existing home had plenty of positive features, including immaculate bamboo floors, plenty of natural light and a well-designed, high-spec kitchen. “There were a few scary wallpapers,” laughs Claire, “but on the whole, our focus was to strip back the interior completely and create a sense of calm, easy living.”

The layout was certainly a plus – a single-story, open-plan design with the living, dining and kitchen spaces leading via stacked doors to the patio and pool. “This is my clients’ forever home and they wanted a sense of longevity and quality. It needed to adapt as their family grows, yet retain a sense of understated glamour.”
