This swanky home hits all the right notes with a tasteful selection of on trend hues and timeless staples
When the topic of stately homes is broached, images of high ceilings, wide open areas and Victorian furniture are conjured. As time passes, these dwellings took on the challenge of integrating trendy furnishings into their spaces. Through careful selection and curation of enduring shapes and fine ensembles, the homes turn out to be no less romantic in nature.
Once crammed with an eclectic array of furnishings, this sizeable home had limited elbow room. Maena Ong, the art director from interior design firm Mong Design who helmed this project, breathed new life into the space. Now fitted with furnishings that feature fashionable metallic shades, clean edges and timeless designs, this resplendent home for four exudes a luxurious charm.
“The husband has actually lived there for almost all his life and made the decision to renovate the home,” explains Maena, “ As such, the homeowners opted for a minimalist approach. To make this project happen, they had moved out for five months.”
The original marble flooring that line the living room was thoroughly polished to give it a brand new shine. Instead of opting for a commonplace feature wall, the inhabitants kept it simple and went for pristine whites. Starring the textbook pairing of wood meets white, the living room’s television console had been made from MDF boards and given a sandy outer coat.
